Africa

Hey guys,
It is Tayo here again. I just want to talk about a passion of mine. It is the second biggest continent in the world and also the second most populous continent. Also, it is the home to about a billion people. If you didn't already guess what I am talking about the title will probably help. It is Africa (affectionately called the motherland). It just hurts me sometimes when I turn on the news and see all the sad images of war, poverty and diseases destroying my continent.
Lately, I have struggled to wrap my head around the concept of corrupt governments. The whole idea of dictatorship and corrupt governments does not make any sense to me. I do not see how a citizen of country would want to ruin his/her own country. Sure human nature makes us greedy and even wicked at times but to be so wicked as to eliminate any opposition with violence and watch a whole nation suffer in poverty is beyond comprehension to me. In fact, I would go as far as calling that kind of behavior demonic. It has to be; because how does one let potential and hope go to waste and not care. I mean how can someone be so comfortable with being one of the only few to have luxuries while the rest of his people barely have essentials. WHAT KIND OF GREED IS THAT!!!
